Lekki, Lagos State: Explosion in Lekki, Lagos State
Report coming to our office today indicated that there has been a chemical explosion on the Lekki-Epe Expressway involving a truck bearing chemical cylinders. We heard that the truck with the chemicals crashed and exploded on the Lekki-Epe Expressway at around 05.00am – Friday 18/05/2012.
Eye withness – Mr Wole Okenla say the incident occured very close to Sangotedo bus-stop, near Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate. We were woken by a very loud explosion. The explosion was so loud that even the people over 10 kilometres away can hear it.
According to the report, 2 people were in the truck – The driver and his assistant. The driver escaped unhurt but his assistant was burnt beyond recognition.
